Ceramic nanoparticles to reduce energy demand

Reducing the energy demand of buildings, especially the existing, is one of the main challenges of modern society from an economic and environmental perspective.

Taking it account, Laurentia Technologies is developing a painting with high solar reflectivity, which, applied to the exterior surfaces of a building, reflects radiation during the warm seasons, while in cold seasons, keeping the warm air inside the envelope reducing the heat transfer considerably by the treated walls, thereby reducing the energy consumption for heating and cooling, without decreasing the thermal comfort conditions.

This high reflectivity can be achieved by introducing into the paint ceramic nanoparticles, which increase the reflectivity of the paint both the visible and the near IR between 5 and 10%.
